DAFC Press Release 06-08-07

Dromore Amateurs manager Pete Batey was in charge of his new side for the first time on Thursday past when the locals played out a scoreless draw with Lambeg Rangers in a pre-season friendly at Holm Park. Batey selected a large squad for the game and gave each player the chance to impress the new boss.

Scoring opportunities were few and far between in an evenly contested match and whilst there is still plenty for the Amateurs to work on, Batey was encouraged by the fitness levels of his new squad given that the game was relatively early in the side's pre-season preparations. The new manager was also pleased to have kept a clean sheet and stressed to his side after the game that a tight defence was going to be of key importance this incoming season. Next up for the locals is Mid-Ulster side Silverwood on Thursday evening kick-off 7pm at the Community Centre, Dromore.

Training sessions have been well attended and Batey has been pleased with the effort and commitment shown by the players. However the new boss is keen to add to his squad and encourages all players in the district to come along to training tonight (Tuesday) at Ferris Park 7-9pm and Saturday at Holm Park from 1pm.
